Strange group eject notifications explained by LL

Some Second Life group owners have received a strange notifications after ejecting residents from the group.  For example, the messages may look like this:

[21:30] Earn2Life Restless: by Earn2Life Restless. Resident have been ejected from ‘Earn2Life – earn L$500-1000 a day’.

If you examine this message thoroughly you’ll see that some words are misplaced and the name of the ejected resident is not visible.

We’ve contacted LL support to get a comment on this issue and they confirmed this bug on SL servers side. It occurs in some regions because of a combination of several mysterious factors. LL representative promised to fix this bug till the end of the week.

So, if you get such message, don’t worry – LL is aware about this problem and already fixing it.

SBSL new line character

“How do I send a multi-line IM using SBSL script? \n does not work!” – we have received this question several times during the last week.

Second Life uses the special Unicode character to format multi-line strings, it looks like ¶. SBSL also supports this character so you can copy-paste it to your SBSL script and form a new line in your IM or group notice.

We’ve created the documentation page to keep all special symbols: take a look here.

Group Chat AntiSpam device updated: allowed words added

SmartBots Group Chat AntiSpam device has been updated. The new config directive has been added: “WHITE WORDS”.

This directive allows some words to be told on group chat. Imagine that you want to protect your Second Life group against spammers, and forbid them to send URLs and SLURLs. You add the following directive to config notecard:

STOPWORDS = http://

This blocks spammers from sending URLs and SLURLs. But what about your own customers and support? Sometimes they need to say your business SLURL to the chat. Add the new directive

WHITE WORDS = secondlife/My%Region%Name/

and all messages containing this string will be considered safe.

You can get the new updated AntiSpam device at SL Marketplace for free.

Large groups support improvements

Linden Lab has improved the processing of large Second Life groups (10K+) recently.  We are glad to inform that SmartBots bots utilize these improvements now, making the group load and export routines reliable and much faster.

Contrary to the previous methods, even the large groups are loading almost immediately now (25,000 group completely loads in about 30 seconds). SmartBots utilize the new SL server calls to make group invitation, chat and notices, export routines more affective.
