Bot server issues, migrating to a spare one

We have an issue with one of the servers (the public network was suddenly shut down because of a maintenance).

The affected bots have been moved to a spare machine, and logging in now gradually. We expect all bots come back online in 15 minutes.

LiveIMs improvements and HUD fix

The issue with broken HUD “new IM” indicator has been fixed. It works properly now: the indicator appears with new IMs arrive; and disappears when you read all these IMs.

Also, the Live IMs add-on web interface has been improved:

  • the dialog messages made compact (excessive sender’s name removed),
  • “mark all IMs read” button added.

New Simple Groups API

We added new API calls to allow managing groups without a personal bot.

SmartBots allows managing groups by “system” bots. Such groups run on a bot provided by SmartBots (the advantages are a cheaper price and easier management).

As a beginning, two API calls have been added:

  • send_group_im – the command to send a message to the group chat,
  • set_http_callback – the command to set HTTP callbacks and get them when something happens in a group.

The currently available API calls are listed here.

Bot may relog, and we are working on it

You may experience your bot relogging. Some bots relog more often, some are stable like before (up to several weeks online).

What happened

This happens because of Linden Lab introducing some protection measures on their servers. Bots’ (scripted agents’) activity sometimes looks strange for regions and network, and regions disconnect avatars.

What is being done

We are aware of the issue, and we are in touch with Linden Lab tech gurus. We are working together to get this fixed as soon as possible. Upcoming Christmas makes it a bit more difficult (making serious changes on the eve of holidays is dangerous). Please be patient, we promise to arrange it asap!

Sincerely yours,
Glaznah Gassner
